The Drive-in Experience – now open to all-comers!

Thanks to recent changes in the Government’s guidelines on COVID social distancing, the organisers of summer drive-in entertainment experiences in Norwich and Thetford have now been able to open up their events to all-comers, whether arriving by car or on foot.

The Drive-In Experience is a brand-new type of four-day open air festival running at Taverham Hall near Norwich from August 13 to 16 and Euston Park outside Thetford from August 20 to 23. A brand new concept, it brings together a wide variety of different types of entertainment all on one site, offering incredible value-for-money with group tickets at just £35 per session for five in a vehicle or for six on foot, or £140 for all-day admission. The tickets will also include the free provision of tables and benches.

Giving families and friends the chance to get out together and have fun following months of lockdown, there is a broad range of entertainment available all in one location with four individual sessions to choose from each day ranging from live music, comedy and movies, to interactive games. Popular musical acts, artists and DJs will also be showcased, with a
special appearance by ex-Pop Idol star and musicals favourite Gareth Gates at Thetford on Sunday August 23.

Our aim is to deliver a unique and fun-packed day of entertainment for everyone involved. We have been carefully following the latest news on social distancing and are delighted to announce that we can now open up our events to as many people as possible.

Originally envisaged as being for those with cars to enjoy together in their vehicle ‘bubbles’, we are delighted that we have now been able to open up the Drive-In Experience to those without cars too. We really want to reassure anyone buying tickets that all our events will have full social distancing measures in place at each location, whether people are in vehicles or not, and they can have a fun day out enjoying valuable times with friends and family in a safe and relaxed environment.

Our giant LED video wall will be one of the main attractions for these unique, state of the art, interactive takes on the ever popular Drive-In events.

Local food and drink providers will be on hand with orders either available for collection or delivered safe and securely straight to vehicles or group spaces, and all events will now also have a fully licenced bar serving a selection of alcoholic drinks.

The venues will be cash-free and payments and ticketing will be contactless, while handwashing stations and toilet facilities with clear safety messaging will also be in place and monitored by on-site staff.

Whether in a vehicle or not, all groups will be given their own personal marked out ‘safe zone’, with group tickets costing just £35 for up to 5 in a car or for 6 on foot to enjoy together. The organisers will provide personal benches and a table free-of-charge for total relaxation while watching the day’s entertainment. Car groups can also purchase additional tickets for £5.

If buying tickets for two consecutive sessions, the second group ticket will be reduced to £25. All-day group tickets are available at £140. All tickets are subject to a booking fee.

While the live entertainment on stage will be projected onto the huge high-tech hi-res LED screen, those staying in their cars will also be able to pick up the audio via their vehicle radios.

There will be four days of packed programmes at each location, running every day from 12 noon through to 11pm. The sessions range from a family movie or games fun, ideal for families with younger children, from 12-2pm; a live tribute band or music act, or live comedy combined with a DJ set through the afternoon from 3.30pm to 4.45pm and into the evening from 6.30pm to 8pm; and then more live music or a movie from 9.30pm to 11pm
with this late session compèred by a talented host and expected to have a real gig-festival party atmosphere.

Appearances by live music acts include one of the UK’s most in-demand DJs
Dave Pearce, Kelly Llorenna formerly of N-Trance, electronic music star Rozalla, and Daft Funk Live, as well as top tribute acts covering the music of Beyonce and Oasis.

Singing star and recording artist Gareth Gates, who starred in musicals such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Misèrables and Legally Blonde after coming to national prominence in the 2002 Pop Idol competition, will headline the 3.30pm show at Thetford on Sunday August 23.

The movie offering will range from children’s favourites such as The Lego Movie 2, Sonic The Hedgehog and Dumbo, to blockbusters like The Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia, Rocketman and Grease, as well as Dirty Dancing, Bohemian Rhapsody and Knives Out.

There will also be interactive fun with an inventive take on TV game shows, pub quizzes and quickfire party games, with giveaways and prizes; while live laughs will come from acts such as hip-hop parody comic Mr B, Britain’s Got Talent comedian Ben Langley and comedy act The Squirrels; and exciting YouTube sensation Tiny Tim.
