Ipswich Music Day 2024 – Sunday 7th July

This year’s Ipswich Music Day will have six stages spread throughout Christchurch Park, along with four classical stages hosted by the Ipswich Arts Association in Bethesda Church, Christchurch Mansion, Masonic Hall, and St Margaret’s Church.

This year the Grapevine Stage on the lawn of Christchurch Mansion, next to the marketplace will feature acoustic and jazz artists and soul singing groups.

12:00  |  PHOEBE AUSTIN

Phoebe Austin is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Suffolk. Influenced by artists such as Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Maisie Peters she creates music that blends lyrical complexity with catchy hooks.


12:30  |  MARCELLUS

‘marcellus’ is an independent singer-songwriter who plays the guitar. He recently released his debut single ‘left behind’ in December 2023 and is preparing to release his debut EP.


13:15  |  MAPLE WARD

Maple Ward is a 24-year-old acoustic singer-songwriter based in Norwich. Her songs are known for their raw honesty and vulnerability. She performs regularly across East Anglia, gracing the stages of Latitude Festival, First Light Festival and the Norfolk and Norwich Festival.


13:45  |  ZAMANI FITRI

Zamani Fitri is a Suffolk based troubadour whose work is a refreshing taste and insight into his own mind and life experiences, bringing a soulful and authentic feel every time.


14:15  |  ADY JOHNSON

Originally the singer/guitarist with mod-rockers FuzzFace, Ady has gone on to forge a dynamic and soulful acoustic style of his own. His music has garnered critical praise and received both regional and national airplay.


15:00  | DUSKY SUNDAY

Dusky Sunday is an indie-folk duo comprising of established musicians Fern Teather and Sam Thurlow, with catchy, lyrical songs played on electric guitar and drums.


15:45  | THE SUFFOLK SLAPPERS

With a passion for the classic sound of the 50’s and 60’s, The Suffolk Slappers are a three-piece band based in Suffolk who specialise in Rockabilly music, bringing high energy performances and infectious tunes.


16:30  | SIMONE PERKS QUINTET

With some of the most recognisable musicians in the area, Simone has recently moved to Ipswich and brings with her 40 years’ experience as a singer. With everything from toe-tapping jazzy was to show stopping “big-toooons” there is something for every generation to enjoy.


17:15  | RICH YOUNG

Rich is singer/songwriter/performer/composer/multi-instrumentalist and producer based in East Anglia. He’s played live, recorded and worked with a diverse range of acts over the years including Scottish indie folk artist King Creosote, Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Steve Marriott and more.


18:00  | FRASER MORGAN

Fraser Morgan is an upcoming folk-punk artist who writes about mental health and getting better and is set to play their 1000th show in 2024. If you like life-loving energy, then you’ll love this.


Elsewhere…

The Bowl Stage sponsored by BBC Radio Suffolk, hosted by Wayne Bavin, near to the Henley Road entrance will, among other great artists, feature BBC Introducing Artists chosen by presenter Angelle Joseph.

New for 2024, the Indian Summer Mela Stage near to the Fonnereau Road entrance of the park will be hosted by the Ipswich & Suffolk Indian Association (ISIA) who will be bringing a celebration of Indian culture to the festival.

The Crossroad Stage close to the Westerfield entrance of the park is sponsored and hosted by Suffolk Sound, with performances live-streamed across the airwaves for all Suffolk Sound listeners to enjoy. Next to the playground, lovers of rock and indie music can head to the new Rise Stage which is sponsored by Suffolk New College.

The Pond Stage in the heart of the park will present indie, rap, R&B and DJs as well as hosting the winner of Suffolk One’s Battle of the Bands competition.
