The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Pete Harrison with Soprano Soloist Verity Wingate gave a concert to celebrate 90 years of the Regent Theatre, previously know as The Gaumont and The Regent.
The Concert programme was mainly well know light classical items together with five arrangements of music from Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones and The Beatles remembering their performances at this Theatre almost sixty years ago.
The packed audience responded well to conductor Pete Harrison’s compering and leadership and were very fully appreciated the singing and personality of Verity Wingate, who looks to be an opera star of the future.
The free commemorative programme was appreciated, although some information about the Regent and its history would have been nice.
