On Sunday 22 December, acclaimed folk band Glymjack are inviting Cambridge residents to join them for the ultimate festive pub crawl!
In aid of MacMillan Cancer Support, Glymjack will play twelve gigs in twelve venues in twelve hours around Cambridge city centre.
The band will be playing half hour sets in each venue, featuring festive classics, carols and folk tunes on fiddle and melodeon.
The Twelve Gigs is the brainchild of Glymjack drummer Paul Richards, who wanted to do something to thank MacMillan for the support the charity provided to Paul’s father, so the Twelve Gigs is tribute, charity fundraiser and the ultimate Christmas knees up!
Glymjack are one of the leading lights of a fantastic new Cambridge folk scene comprising bands like The Willows, Fred’s House and Trials of Cato,
supported by folk clubs including Cambridge Folk Club, Ely Folk Club and The Black Fen Folk Club, a weekly folk music show on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire every Monday at 8pm, and of course The Cambridge Folk Festival.
The band comprises award-winning songwriter Greg McDonald, fiddle virtuoso Gemma Gayner, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee Saul Bailey, and legendary Cambridge drummer Paul Richards. After a decade in which singer Greg has clocked up over a thousand shows, and a whirlwind 2019 which saw Glymjack celebrated as a highlight of the Cambridge Folk Festival, The Twelve Gigs finds Glymjack back home for Christmas.
Glymjack hope last minute Christmas shoppers will have the perfect excuse
to down the shopping bags for half an hour and enjoy some festive folk music, or better still, tag along for the ultimate Christmas pub crawl!
Those who can’t make the gigs can catch Glymjack’s tenth gig of the day
