A Book for Her at The Mercury

Why has Bridget been sending her stained underpants to George Osborne at HM Treasury every month? Which method actor has been playing the character comedian Nigel Farage since 2010? Is Rachel Dolezal black or white? What’s the difference between Eddie Izzard and Caitlyn Jenner?

All this and more will be revealed as the multi-award-winning Bridget Christie tours the UK with her tenth solo stand-up comedy show A Book For Her, followed by a post show book signing of her book, also called A Book For Her.

Bridget’s tour coincides with the recent paperback release of her highly acclaimed book A Book For Her (Arrow Books) on 25 February and follows yet another hugely successful, critically acclaimed and sell-out runs at this year’s Edinburgh Festival and London’s Leicester Square Theatre, as well as her award-winning shows A Bic For Her and An Ungrateful Woman. The release of (the hardback version) of A Book For Her (Century, Random House) last year gained universal praise.  Bridget’s last three shows have sold out in advance and been in the top 5 best-reviewed shows at the fringe.

When A Bic For Her ran at Soho Theatre, it broke the theatre’s record for the bestselling comedy show ever. It then went on UK tour, on a double bill with An Ungrateful Woman (which also sold out a 52 night Soho run), and won many awards, including the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award, the South Bank Sky Arts Award for Best Comedy, and the Chortle Award for Best Show.  Her BBC Radio 4 series, Bridget Christie Minds the Gap, won the prestigious Rose d’Or International Broadcasting Award and two Chortle Awards for Best Radio (2014 and 2015) as well as being nominated for Best Comedy at the Radio Academy Awards.  Her 2015 tour won a Chortle Award for Best Tour.  She was also nominated for a British Comedy Award for Best Female TV Comedian.  In November 2015 Bridget won a Marie Claire Magazine Women at the Top Award, and Red Magazine’s Creative Woman of the Year Award 2015.

A Book for Her, plays at the Mercury Theatre on Tuesday 3rd May.
