Caroline Flack pulls from Crazy For You

Caroline Flack has pulled out of Crazy For You at Norwich Theatre Royal on doctor’s orders, because of an ongoing back problem, she has had to leave the tour with immediate effect.

Her understudy Hollie Cassar will take on her role of Irene Roth for this week’s performances in Norwich and for the next few weeks of the tour.

“I’ve had a wonderful time working on my first theatre tour. I’ve learned so much and can’t wait for my next challenge on the stage. Unfortunately I’ve had a rather nasty recurring back injury and with just five weeks remaining of my time with the show, I must reluctantly listen to doctor’s orders.

Thankfully I’ll be fighting fit again after a few weeks rest. I feel very lucky it’s not too serious. Thanks to the cast and everyone involved in Crazy For You. I wish them all the very best for the remainder of the tour”.

Jamie Wilson, who has co-produced the tour with the Watermill Theatre, added:

“It is with great sadness that Caroline has to leave Crazy For You. We have been thrilled with her contribution to the success of the show and wish her a speedy recovery and all the very best for the future.”

The show, which also stars Strictly and Casualty favourite Tom Chambers, tells the story of Bobby, a banker sent to close down a failing theatre who falls for the daughter of the building’s proprietor despite being engaged to be married to someone else.

Mistaken identities, plot twists, heartbreak, happiness and a wealth of memorable tunes are all featured in this all-singing, all-dancing story set to a Gershwin soundtrack which includes the likes of I Got Rhythm, They Can’t Take That Away From Me, Nice Work If You Can Get It and Embraceable You.

The visit to Norwich follows a hugely successful run of the show at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury which wowed audiences and was critically acclaimed, and the tour comes from the producers of another recent stage hit Sister Act.

Crazy For You is at the Norwich Theatre Royal this week from Tuesday 31 October-Saturday 4 November at 7.30pm, and Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm.
