The Mercury Theatre’s 2019-20 pantomime Cinderella, taking place at off-site venue Mercury at Abbey Field, will see the return of much-loved cast members Antony Stuart-Hicks and Dale Superville.
The Mercury Theatre is delighted to announce that Antony Stuart-Hicks and Dale Superville will be starring in our annual pantomime together for the fifth consecutive year. Cinderella will run from Sat 30 Nov – Sat 5 Jan in the theatre’s new temporary venue Mercury at Abbey Field, with Stuart-Hicks and Superville working more closely together than ever before as they portray the Ugly Stepsisters.
Antony Stuart-Hicks’ career has spanned over 20 years as a producer, teacher, director, personal manager and actor. Mercury audiences will recognise him for his iconic dame characters in the last four pantomimes at the theatre, most recently as the unforgettable Dotty Trott in Jack and the Beanstalk. Dale Superville is best known for his work in children’s productions, including performances at Polka Theatre and Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre. Superville has adopted many roles at the Mercury over the years, most recently delighting audiences of all ages as Day-Z the cow in Jack and the Beanstalk.

Giving them the opportunity to fill a completely new venue with laughter is something we are very proud to do.”
Mercury at Abbey Field will be a state of the art pop-up theatre that will house a limited season of shows during Autumn 2019 whilst the major redevelopment of the current theatre takes place. The temporary space will include an increased seating capacity of over 800 seats, will be completely undercover and will be fully heated with full bar, kiosks, toilets and onsite parking available to pre-book.
The creative team for Cinderella will be taking full advantage of this wonderful new venue, offering a unique festive experience for families from their first step inside. Cinderella will be directed by Ryan McBryde (Moll Flanders, Pieces of String), whose previous pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk for the Salisbury Playhouse, won Best Pantomime under 750 Seats at the 2018 Great British Panto Awards. Charlie Morgan will also return as choreographer and David Shields as designer; both of whom have worked on many Mercury pantomimes in the past including Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Dick Whittington.
