Norwich Playhouse Refurb

From Monday 10 July 2017, the Playhouse auditorium will close for major refurbishment. Over the six week period of closure, the theatre will benefit from a refresh of fixtures, fittings, and technical improvements, all designed to enhance our audience’s experience.

The refurbishment includes a cosmetic overhaul with new carpets and more comfortable seating. The seats will be refitted with fresh foam and newly upholstered, but capacity, lay-out and visibility will remain the same. The Control Room will be updated with a new window to improve working conditions for the technical team and help enhance the quality of live music and interactive shows for the audience.

The Playhouse Bar will remain open throughout the work with delicious drinks and snacks available, and plenty of seating on the sunny riverside terrace. Opening times won’t change: 10am (noon on Sundays) until midnight.

The auditorium will reopen with a sold-out run of Playhouse favourites, The Nimmo Twins, on Wednesday 23rd August. Tickets are still available for Barry Cryer (Fri 1st Sep), Jay Rayner (Sat 2nd Sep), The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars (Fri 8th Sep) and many other September shows for audiences wanting to experience the new look and feel of the Playhouse.

Caroline Richardson, Playhouse Director, says:

“It will be wonderful to have even more comfortable seating in our lovely intimate auditorium, and to make the Playhouse more beautiful than ever. We can’t wait for our customers to enjoy the new look, especially as all the improvements will be finished in time for our biggest ever season this autumn.”

The refurbishment will be funded by the Theatre Royal Trust as part of a programme of building investment. The Playhouse’s ticket pricing policies will remain as affordable and accessible as ever.
