Norfolk will be the home of a brand new course which aims to equip the next generation of theatre technicians.
Practical hands-on training will be offered at the full-time course which will be partly based at Stage Two, Norwich Theatre Royal’s new learning and participation centre which opens in September.
And there will be a chance to find out more about it at a special open evening at Norwich Theatre Royal on Wednesday 27 April between 6-8pm.
The Level Three Technical Theatre Production Course will offer hands-on training in a host of different areas including set design, lighting, sound, stage management and business production, and will be equivalent to studying three A-Levels.
It will be run by the national music college Access To Music, in partnership with Norwich Theatre Royal, and will build on the work already being done at their well-established base at Magdalen Street in the city.
Their delivery and performance manager Frank Morrow said:
“Access to Music is growing its portfolio of creative courses and this move is an exciting development for us and the young people of Norfolk.”
The course will build on the programme of events and activities being delivered in Stage Two, the theatre’s new £3m-plus learning space, which includes a performance space with seating for up to 100 people, workshops and rehearsal space.
