Our Day Out: Deadline Extended

DEADLINE EXTENDED for ‘Our Day Out’ this August at Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

Following on from the success of the Summer School performance of Kes last year Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds are launching an exciting month long opportunity to realise your dreams, be ambitious. 

Young people aged 12-19 will have the opportunity to work with a professional team of actors and creative industry professionals to produce a week long fully professional show of the iconic Willy Russell musical, Our Day Out. Among his best known works are Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine and Blood Brothers.

This exciting project will be fun, hard work and life-changing. Use your talent, meet new friends and create life-long memories. Get the chance to immerse yourself for a month and learn from the best.

We are looking for people who have interests in the following areas:

  • Performers – Actors, musicians, singers, dancers
  • Backstage – Stage management, technical theatre, set building, artist

Your month at the Theatre will be an immersive experience. You’ll learn all about making theatre and have the opportunity to build your confidence and skills working on this well-loved musical: The ‘Progress Class’ from an inner-city school in Liverpool go on a school trip. Mrs Kay who teaches the class was taking them to Alton Towers but at the very last minute, the disciplinarian Deputy Headteacher, Mr Briggs, joins them. Mayhem ensues!

Dates: 7th August – 2nd September
Cost: £200.00 (for 4 weeks) 

We have limited scholarship places available to those experiencing hardship.
