That’s Entertainment

One of the biggest stars of musical theatre and honorary local East Anglian girl Ruthie Henshall, whose multi-award winning career has seen her star in some of the most successful musicals of the past three decades, will bring the golden 1940s and 50s era of music alive on stage at Norwich Theatre Royal from September 5-10.

The four times Olivier-nominated musical theatre artist will be joined by one of Britain’s favourite vocal harmony groups, The Overtones, in a sparkling song and dance extravaganza called That’s Entertainment.

It will feature Hollywood’s all-time greatest hits from legendary composers such as George Gershwin, Lerner and Loewe, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, and Rodgers and Hammerstein, with numbers ranging from That’s Entertainment, Puttin’ On The Ritz and I Got Rhythm, to There is Nothing like a Dame, You’ll Never Walk Alone and more – and there will also be a right Royal knees-up with a special tribute to London’s Pearly Kings and Queens.

Ruthie Henshall, has enjoyed a multi-award winning career which has seen her star in the most popular West End musicals of the past 30 years, from Crazy For You which catapulted Ruthie into a major musical West End star, to Cats, Miss Saigon, Les Misérables and Chicago. Ruthie is also in high demand as a concert performer touring and performing extensively in the UK, the USA and Australia.

The Overtones are one of Britain’s top vocal harmony groups, covering genres from doo-wop and Motown to modern-day R&B and pop. They recently celebrated their fifth consecutive Top 10 UK album and selling over 1,000,000 albums. They have performed at major events and concerts and are seen regularly on national TV, including a performance at the Queens’ Jubilee Concert in front of 250,000 people as well as appearing at the Festival of Remembrance and in London’s Hyde Park for major festival shows, plus sell-out shows at the London O2, Palladium and Hammersmith Apollo. That’s Entertainment is produced by David King for Spirit Productions who also produced the Puttin’ On The Ritz show, seen at Norwich Theatre Royal last July.

Theatre Royal communications officer Judy Foster said:

“If you love glorious costumes, fabulous dancing and wonderful music from the golden age of Hollywood musicals, then That’s Entertainment will have you tapping your feet and clapping your hands, and with such star musical theatre casting a sparkling time is guaranteed.”
