ThingamaGig Charity Music Festival

ThingamaGig Charity Music Festival is a live, outdoor music event which this year returns to The Ship Inn, Chelmsford (Stock Road, CM2 8LB). The event will showcase 16 of the best local bands and artists, playing a wide range of music from Blues to Ska and Rock to Folk. This event is for all ages.

Each year they try and showcase a variety of home-grown, original talent and this year is no exception.

There are 2 outside stages – and they have kept their dedication to their good friend, fellow musician and music enthusiast Justin Bowman (also known by his stage name ‘Justin Boneman’) with THE BONEMAN STAGE.

There is a good mix of music to suit all tastes, including: The Kubricks, Deferred Suces, Stuart O’Connor, Von Jergo, Clare Blackman, The Lemoncurd Kids, Mitchell Bruce, Delta Jacks, Chris Griffiths, Victories, Dan Pierce, Guilt Coins, Chris Davison, Whoremoan, Eff Off and Lo Chief!

A fantastic line up of local talent that they are sure you will love as much as they do!

Also they aim to improve the event each year, by making it bigger and better for the audience, the bands and for the charities they support – now in our 9th year, we have the outside bar, BBQ and Hog Roast. Face painting (for kids and adults) will return once again, provided by Lynsey.

With extra outside toilets and urinals and a few other surprises in store too, ThingamaGig 2016 is set to be the best year yet!

Since ThingamaGig began, they have raised over £25,000 for local charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Essex Air Ambulance, St.Luke’s hospice, Hamlin Trust, the J’s Hospice and Harry’s Charity

This year’s Thingamagig will be raising money for the charity MIND, who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. MIND is a charity close to our hearts at the moment, due to the recent loss of a great friend, talented musician and all round legend, Daniel Voysey, who suffered with mental health issues.

Dan performed at Thingamagig many times with his band The Gina Sykes Session and the times he wasn’t performing, he was always there offering his support. This year the main stage will be named after him in the form of ‘The Baked Bean Stage’ (a nickname that stuck after he amusingly likened himself to the little orange delight!).

Get behind supporting this great cause while enjoying all the fun of a festival!
