Tourist’s third single of 2024, ‘EST’, pushes the boundaries of atmospheric house as it follows ‘A Little Bit Further’ and ‘Second Nature’. Known for his unparalleled ability to weave ethereal soundscapes and down-tempo electronic beats, Tourist’s latest offering is poised to captivate a diverse audience, whilst delivering the quintessential signature sound he is renowned for.
In his music, Tourist masterfully melds sonic textures to create a musical landscape that transcends boundaries and ‘EST’ is no exception. On the track, he adds: This is my attempt to write something that feels beautiful but also confrontational at the same time. I wanted the new album to be enjoyably disorientating and ‘EST’ really sums up that intention.”
After the enormous success of his last album ‘Inside Out’, with praise across the breadth of the global music media – including Clash, Bandcamp, This Song Is Sick, Stoney Roads, Music Tech and more – the UK-based producer went on to tour the world and wow crowds far and wide with his live shows. An album created during the coronavirus pandemic, the death of a close friend and the birth of his daughter changed his life.
To express his interlocking grief and joy, he made Inside Out, a tender, uplifting album of swinging garage grooves, chunky bass, and French filter house melodies. Showing no signs of slowing down he continues to grow with every year and has gone on to pick up a Grammy, co-write ‘Stay With Me’ for Sam Smith, sell out dates and festival appearances.
